CHEW Community Advisory Board
The Community Advisory Board (CAB) is comprised of WIC participants (African American, Hispanic, White, others), WIC vendors, community organizations, Davidson County WIC program director (Theresa Thomas), and two external expert consultants (David Schlundt, PhD. and Bettina Beech, DrPH). The CAB meets quarterly to oversee the project, give input for the projects, work out any challenges, and provide other feedback and guidance. The CHEW team also provides training to the CAB on WIC, nutrition and childhood obesity issues. Examples include: 1) the Metro-Davidson County WIC Director gave overview and updates of the local WIC program; and 2) TSU Extension Education Specialists informed the members regarding nutrition and grocery shopping tips.
